The soaker watering system uses a collection of difficult and soft hose pipes to water your plants from below ground, much like the drip system. Unlike the drip system, however, the soaker system allows water to leak out along the entire length of the tube as opposed to only out of the emitters, resulting in some thrown away water in between plants.
